The urban rapid transit system track, has small-radius curves with lengthways profile units which are narrow enough in the direction of the radius of curvature for their curvature to take effect in the elastic area of their deformation. To attain the requisite rigidity, these profile units can be assembled from profiles of smaller cross-section, and be connected for force transfer. They may be connected to plates mounted in the plane of the main profile loading, and these plates can carry additional functional elements. The plates may be of plastic, with glass fibre weave on the underside, and a quartz sand filling.
