The welder, for welding winding ends to a machine's collector, has its welding head moved radially in steps or continuously over the winding ends (2) and the part (1) of the collector to which they are to be welded. A modulated current is used to weld the winding ends to the collector tags. The position of the welding head is controlled by a computer. The head may also oscillate backwards and forwards over the welding area. The welder may be a TIG type or a plasma type. This give economical welding.
