摘要
Salt bath furnace has a ceramic lining, and uses several electrodes immersed in the bath and connected to the output terminals of a transformer. The furnace has an inlet located in one wall above the bath; and an outlet in another wall. The inlet pref. contains a feeder screw for charging the salts into the furnace, whereas the outlet is pref. a siphon. At least one burner for fossil fuel is pref. located above the bath, whereas the electrodes are hollow; made of a Cr-Ni alloy; and can be raised or lowered. An exhaust gas extn. channel and hood are pref. located in the furnace roof near the outlet. The furnaces, well known for heat-treating ferrous materials, are also useful in the continuous removal of organic impurities from salts or salt suspensions, before disposal either in a liq. form or on dumps for waste material, i.e. to avoid environmental pollution.
