Continuous pasteurising machine for unstable containers - has positive feed and discharge mechanisms to prevent tilting of articles

A device for continuously pasteurising and/or cooling drinks or foodstuffs contained in relatively flimsy packages, bags or plastics containers or slender glass bottles comprises an endless conveyor belt, which conducts the articles through the pasteurising zone. The inlet and outlet zones are equipped respectively with feed and discharge devices mounted transversely to the direction of conveying. Between the conveyor and the feed device or discharge device there is a transfer mechanism which prevents tilting over, sliding or displacement of the articles, this device comprises bars, plates, etc. extending transversely across the movement path and operated cyclically by control equipment. At the feed end a roof-shaped cap pref. fits over each bottle etc. and moves it forward the cap is pivotal about a horizontal axis. At the discharge end there is pref. a reciprocating gate which releases the articles one at a time, followed by a revolving 'paddle' which guides them down the slide to the discharge point. The device is esp. used for flimsy or unstable containers. Compared with the group advance method, each container is positively supported in its movement onto or off the endless conveyor.
