The compressed air installation comprises a screw compressor (6) whose rotors run in an oil bath, an oil reservoir (11) for initial separation of oil from compressed air, followed by an oil separator (13), an air-cooled or water-cooled cooler (9) for oil and compressed air, and a control system (2, 3, 4, 23, 22). Part of the oil (35) in the reservoir is injected (33) into the compressor when compression is in progress. The cooler (9) is arranged in the pressure line (40) through which the compressed air/oil mixture flows from the compressor to the reservoir. The reservoir may have a water drain unit (28-31) to remove the water (36) collecting at the bottom of the reservoir.
