Central logging of postal charges caused by use of franking machines - transmits charges stamped by machine over normal telephone line to central counter at telephone exchange

The charge stamped on the letter is added in a store which blocks the franking machine from further use. It can be reset to its initial state when a data sender transmits through a telephone or telex line the stored charge to a charge counting device which can be dialled through the line. The franking machine (FM) makes use of the normal telephone line (TL). A switch (US) normally connecting the telephone-appts. (FA) may be charged to alternatively connect the franking machine to the charge counting device in the telephone exchange.
