Heat pump system for space heating - where refrigerant flow can be reversed to reverse heat flow

Heat transfer system takes the heat from a liq. stream e.g. an effluent stream using a heat pump cycle. This has a refrigerant and a heat exchanger in the effluent and a second part of the circuit with an exchanger to discharge the heat at a higher temp. in a suitable space. The heat exchange system is arranged so as to be reversible i.e. the space can be heated or cooled by altering the refrigerant flow around the system. A suitable application is an underfloor heating coil. One circuit contains the heat-exchanger in the effluent and the other circuit has a heat-transfer medium fed to the heat exchanger. A fourth exchanger can be switched between these two circuits and the heat pump, when the heat-flow is to be reversed.
