The vehicle jack has a supporting arm adjustable for height on a column by a screwed spindle rotated by hand crank. At the base of the column is a rocking foot whose end furthest from the car lifted supports the column, while that nearest to it is inclined upwards. The supporting surfaces (58, 60) of this end (56) of the foot are convex-curved at right angles to it, and the arm (26) is also convex-curved at right angles to its axis at the forward end engaging with the vehicle bodywork (48). The foot surfaces can be inclined to each other at an obtuse angle, the tipping edge formed between them being likewise convex-curved at right angles to the foot.
