摘要
The stacking fork has two or more prongs extensible into a position above the stack. After a laying of boards etc. has accumulated on them they are retracted clear of the stack so as to drop the boards onto it. Each prong (2) is formed by two lengths of belt or chain (4, 5) converging at their free ends (6, 7) where they hinge together (9). They are sufficiently rigid in the vertical plane to be extended into an overhung position, and are retracted in the horizontal plane clear of the stack edge (13). Where chains are used they can be mounted edgewise, bending in one direction only, and when in belt form they can be of crescent-section steel strip, again mounted edgewise. The chains or belts can wind on and off contra-rotating drums.
