Grinding swaft obtd. from the surface of alloy steel ingots prior to rolling into sheet and contg. 4-30% Ni has its baling properties improved prior to forming into briquettes for recycling by premixing with voluminous metal turnings and/or wool which contains oil or water. This improves the physical properties and allows subsequent handling without physical loss.
