A device (B) is used for testing high rehability multiple pair conductors for shorts to earth, shorts between conductors, and open circuits. It is designed for minimal operator cost and time and for simple reliable operation. A battery powered tester is connected to the socket of a multiple-pair conductor whose plug is connected to a test socket. A switch on the tester has positive and negative current positions. Push-buttons control the application of current to the conductor via diodes and light emitting diodes associated with the push-buttons provide indication of detected faults.
