Wind powered electricity generator - has stiffened construction to withstand storm conditions and weather protection for electrical generator

The generator has a stationary central base (1) with a rotating tower (3) on top of it. The top end of the base (1) is thickened and supports the tower on two rings (4, 5) of large ball bearings. These carry the weight and also absorb the turning moment exerted on the base. A shaft through the tower carries turbine blades (10) outside the tower and drives an electrical generator (17) through bevel gears and a final gear box (16). The tower also has guide blades (7, 8) which rotate it to bring the turbine into the wind. The generaor mechanism is contained inside the space within the tower and is thus protected against the weather. The stiffened construction enables the generator to run even at high wind speeds.
