Wind energy conversion system for ship propulsion - has baffles in cruciform vertical array diagonal to ship centre line

The wind energy conversion baffles, esp. for ship propulsion, comprise ladder frame units with pairs of transverse steel rods, pref. carrying rollers. Steel sheet run between the rods, variable in area, constitutes the baffle surface. Four assemblies each comprising three ladder units are combined into a vertical, roughly cruciform, array set diagonally on the ship centre line. Cross arms pointing aft are concave to the centre line, those pointing forward being convex. The innermost elements are outside and inside diagonal lines respectively. Links between the units have eyes for horizontal bracing wires.
