Splicer for sound films - uses single slider carriage to transport two film strips in separate guides under sound heads for sound transfer

The splicer is for films with a wound track along one edge, such as super 8 in which a carriage places the two films together to ensure a good relative alignment of the two films despite a simplified drive system. The slider (1) carries both film strips (I, II) in the guides (2, 3) under the tone arm (4) with sound heads (5, 6) in one direction (arrow A). The sound from one strip (II) start (7) is transferred to the other strip (I) end (8). The desk can have a cylindrical surface. The slider can be driven by a tension spring, the regularity of the guide movement being achieved by a braking arrangement.
