A measuring vessel is used which has a bifilar winding which is employed for heating and also to measure the average casing temperature. The measuring vessel is placed in a further vessel which also has a controllable filament winding. The windings of the two heating casings can be positioned in measuring bridges and connected to suitable switches so that they can receive a measuring and heating current at predetermined time intervals. Instead of a purely adiabatic state being crested, a quasiadiabatic state is achieved by stabilising to zero the sum of the heat flows acting on the measured object vessel (1).
