The structures are elongated, and two-dimensional images of them are used, with possibility of a standardised examination of information contained in the area covered by the raster, leading to determination of specific parameter indices independent from the raster position. This investigation yields means values for the structures, and is esp. suitable for morphometric determination of vessels in human angiograms. In practice the raster (1) can be used as an eye-piece insert for microscopes, or as a ground glass screen for magnified projection of image sections. It can also be used as a pattern for tracing of pictures by a curve digitaliser or a fully automatic picture analyser.
