The automatic ghost-image suppressor, for a TV receiver, has a delay line, to delay the video signal by an amount of time equal to the ghost image's delay, and a gain control to set the amplitude of the delayed video signal. A mixer mixes the undelayed video signal with the amplitude-set video signal and thereby produces a video signal with suppressed ghost image. A gate samples the residual ghost image from the output of the mixer durng the vertical blanking interval in sync. with the separated sync. signal. A detector detects the residual ghost in the vertical blanking interval and controls the gain of the gain control accordingly.
