Electrical stimulation of nerves or muscles - uses generator with cyclic discharge of coupling capacitor in intervals between pulses

The generator gives a constant current output without d.c. voltage, for electrical stimulation of e.g. nerves or muscles. It comprises a constant current pulse generator (1), and output sockets (2) which can be connected by electrode wires to electrodes (E). Between the generator and sockets there is a coupling capacitor (3). The pulses operate a delay member (4) which operates a second delay member (5) which operates a switch (6) for cyclic discharge of the capacitor during the intervals between pulses. The switch is pref. electronic, and between it and the capacitor is a variable resistor (7) for controlling the discharge rate.
