Sealing tape system for multicore cable joints - has adhesive on both sides of tape and individually removable protection film layers

The tape finds application where the space between cores is limited, for example where the cable enters a jointing box. The tape is covered with adhesive on both sides. Each side is protected by a sacrifice film (2, 3) which is doubled over so that both ends (22, 32; 23, 33) are accessible from one side, and can be removed by pulling one end. The film is placed round the core (10) to be covered and the free end (22) of the inner film (2) pulled. The film is removed, and then by pulling on the outer film (3) the tape is made to adhere to the core. The stripping process is then repeated by pulling off the outer film (3). The free ends of the tape can then be pressed together (6) to form a joint. When the jointing box gland is then pressed into position the adhesive tape seals onto the gland and onto adjacent cores giving a damp proof construction.
