The feed device attached to the machine spindle comprises a guide tube with a work material pusher. The length of the free bar material (6) corresponds approx. to that of the machine spindle (1). The feed device with the guide tube (4) can be brought, with the material pusher (5), into a work position in which the pusher is aligned with the machine spindle and into a load position in which it is located beyond the extension of the machine spindle. The feed device (3) is displaceable vertically to the machine spindle and the spindle and guide tube on displacement lie parallel to each other.
