A device for transferring data from a meter, in partic. an odometer, to a data channel is designed to withstand rough conditions of operation and to incorporate the transfer device which connects to the meter. The numeral roller set in the meter is connected to a set of stepped curves working in conjunction with a sensor in the transfer device which has slip contacts. The slip contacts are connected to a contact mounting which is itself connected to the data channel. The wheel revolution counter (1) is connected to the transfer device which is formed in a socket. The latter is connected to the indicator via a cable.
