Closing, opening and locking mechanism for two=part tools - esp. for moulding expansible polystyrene beads

Installation for closing, opening and locking 2-part moulds esp. for mfr. of mouldings from expansible, particulate polystyrene, is claimed. One mould part is connected with the free ends of piston rods which are evenly arranged about a frame and engage cylinders which are evenly arranged about the frame of the other part-mould. The piston rods carry pistons which may be acted upon from both sides. In contract with similar units, the installation takes up practically all the mould closing pressure which has been traditionally absorbed by the machine frame. As a result, the machine frame can now be less heavy and hence less expensive. No additional guide means for the mobile part-mould, and no additional locking means are necessary.
