Pipeline valve has a seal which is designed to resist deformation caused by high temperatures. The seal (3) comprises a U-shaped bent spring steel strip which is attached to the wall (1a) of the valve housing (1) by webs (4, 4a) clamping strips (5, 5a) and clamping bolts (6, 6a). The sealing end of the seal is pressed against the sealing surface by a tubular pressure bar (7) which is located on the end of a ram (9) having a spring (8) pushing on its rear end towards the sealing surface.
