Coarsely comminuted steel-belted rubber tyres - for use in compsns. for building road foundations

Compsns. used in constructing road foundations for use in a gravel bed layer, contain a proportion of mechanically coarsely comminuted (about first size), used. esp. steel belt-reinforced rubber tyres. The rubber tyre pieces may be pre-treated by coating with organic and/or inorganic binder e.g. with a cement-lime mixt. or (semi)hard polyurethane foam layer(s). Asphalt is also suitable for this purpose. The coating is effected by means of continuously operating tumbler mixers.
