In the parent patent, the wet oxidative degradation of org. impurities in effluents was described by oxidising at a redox potential of 300-600 mV (measured with a Pt electrode against a Ag/AgCl electrode), at 80-250 degrees C and 3-200 bars with O2(-contg. gases). The improvement in this application lies in adjusting the redox potential by adding 300-500 ppm Fe degrees, Fe++ and/or Fe+++ as well as 1-10 ppm (pref. 4-7 ppm) P (as PO4---).
