Air-drying insulating compsn. is produced by grinding polystyrene- or "Styropor" (RTM) waste cuts and mixing with a binder, e.g. "Metylan" (RTM) (or wallpaper glue) or water glass Na2SiO3. The compsn. is used as a heat-insulator or as a sound-insulator for suppressing droning noises in sheet metal, e.g. in cars. The compsns. can be applied like gypsum and allow "do-it-yourself" workers to carry out insulating jobs without the use of 2-component foaming materials.
