Breaker contacts are used for electric current circuits e. g. in switches, electric bells, buzzers, choppers or vibrators, and also in the primary current circuits of I.C. engines ignition systems. The contacts are designed to avoid the tendency to waar and early damage as generally associated with breaker contacts, and also to increase the operational safety of the systems in which they are used, and to prolong the interval between servicing. The breaker contacts are provided with one or several ventilation grooves (2) that cross over one another in the opposite lying surfaces of the contacts, or are mutually displaced in the opposite lying surfaces.
