Automatic symbolic recording system for music in symbol form - uses representation in bar chart form on waxed paper by marking with needle coupled to key

The automatic reproduction of sheet music when an electric piano instrument is played is achieved by using a bar chart note form re-produced on wax paper. The wax paper (5) is moved at a controlled note between rollers (2, 3, 18, 19) and is supported on a bedplate (8). Needles (13) are located on note bars (10) above the bed and are pivoted (11). Normally the needles are held clear of the bed by a spring (17) bias force. Key operation causes activation of a solenoid and the bar is moved by pulling on a connecting wire (16). The resulting note is represented by the length of the mark.
