Torque measurement system consists of strain gauges (21) mounted around a rotating shaft or coupling (11, 14). The strain gauges are fixed at 45 deg. to the shaft axis in bridge circuit formation so that their movement gives a summing signal proportional to the torque on the shaft. The output is passed via amplifier (25) and modulator (26) to a elementary transmitter (28). The component power source is a dry battery, a.c operated pick-up (23) or induction coil where the shaft is attached to an electric motor. The transmitted signal is passed via a receiver to a demodulator and an evaluation circuit. The output is indicated as torque and temp. The h.f transmitter voltage is modulated with a signal proportional to the measured value.
