Appts. for producing ozone from oxygen or an oxygen containing gas comprises a production chamber giving two electrodes which form a condenser, both electrodes being connected, one via an inductance, to a respective terminal of a switch connected in parallel with a power source. The condenser formed from the two electrodes serves as a charging condenser whereby the same elements form the charging and resonant circuitry. By virtue of the switch operation the inductive resistance of the inductance and the capacitative resistance of the condenser are equalised. The series resonant circuitry produced has a much higher ohmic resistance than a parallel circuit so that the discharge of the ozonator is improved with increasing ozone concentrations.
