The arrangement for preventing icing of an evaporator is used in a heat pump. The evaporator (3) is wetted with anti freeze agent (8) by a spraying arrangement (4). The anti freeze agent is separated from the condensate from the evaporator, and is returned to the rinsing and spraying arrangement (4). The density of the anti freeze is lower than that of the water. A collector (7) is provided under the compressor for separating the mixture. A sump with a float controlled draining valve is used for removing water.
