Low foaming wetting and washing agents for use in textile treatment processes consist of propyleneglycolethersulphates of internal alkanediols with a chain length of 10-18 C(11-14C) and contg. an average of 1-4 propylenegrlycolether gps. The propylenegrlycolether sulphates have excellent wetting properties coupled with very low foaming characteristics, and are esp. useful in textile treatment processes such as dyeing, washing, bleaching, rinsing, etc., where foam formation is a problem.
