Navigational sextant with digital read=out - has angular transducer and electronic chronometer

The navigational sextant with digital read-out and electronic chronometer comprises a conventional sextant design with half-silvered sighting glass (12) and angle mirror (18). The worm-driven arm is adjusted by means of a micrometer (22) and the angular position is converted in an electronic transducer (30) to an electrical signal for use in a digital display. The electronic unit (31) is fitted with the display and operating controls for resetting the counter before each reading. The electronic chronometer is used as a stop-watch when following the sun or stars and the circuit provides a display of angle and time. In a second mode, the instrument will determine the measured angle during a certain time period and in the third mode, the instrument functions purely as a highly accurate chonometer.
