The material moving machine such as an excavator or crane has mechanism for braking the revolving turret. The latter is revolved in all directions about a vertical axis by hydraulic drive. The brake system prevents inadvertent revolving of this turret. The switching system (5) for on and off switching or for optional clockwise to anticlockwise rotation of the turret is connected to the brake (8). The hydraulic piston and cylinder arrangement (15) is actuated on actuation of the turret against the force of a spring. The brake (8) is connected when the revolving turret is not operated and when the turret is switched on the brake is automatically released. The brake is connected to the hydraulic circuit to the tool of the machine and especially to the hydraulic actuating circuit of the turret actuating mechanism.
