The system is used for watering soils where, below the top soil, there is a solid relatively water-impermeable layer. Below the surface in the top soil layer, there are supply pipes at the plant root depth. The take-off pipes (6) of a drainage system are arranged at a distance below the supply pipes (7) but above the impermeable layer (1). The take-off pipes (6) lie on the surface of the impermeable layer, which has a shape forming flat channels. The take-off pipes (6) are arranged at the deepest point of the channels. The perforated layer (7) has a good capillary water conductivity and there is an intermediate water permeable layer (2) with good drainage properties.
