The vehicle for smoothing bituminous surfaces is esp. used for removing traffic grooves in roads, by application of preheating devices to the bituminous surface. The vehicle is fitted with at least one roller, moving transversely to the direction of travel. This is raisable, and movable transversely in a frame which can swivel about the vehicle's longitudinal axis. There may be two hydraulic presses, mounted laterally between the main chassis frame and the roller frame. The running wheels may be in the form of rollers, pref. rubber roller wheels.
