Artificial island for temporary, relatively shallow water operations - has platform lifted by floats guided in foundation frames

An artificial island, the platform of which is carried by the frames of a foundation structure resting on the seabed, has the frames designed to form guides for the lifting floats. The floats are provided with support legs which project from the frames, and which, in the active position are fixed securely to the platform and the frameS. The frames are formed by cylinders sealed against the surrounding water, through the cover plates of which the support legs extend. These cylinders reach above the level of the sea. The frames are formed by lattice masts braced to each other and fitted with a strut above, which encloses the support leg. The island has a simple means of lifting and lowering the platform which can be employed with confidence at sea, and which retains its functional capability without maintenance, after having been installed for a long time. The platform can be lowered when required and towed to a new site. A crane is not necessary and since both sections are floating whilst the flatform is attached, the action of the swell is minimal.
