Changes in the amplitude of notes produced by sring instruments of the type that are played with a plucking action, are produced by moving a pivoting plate coupled to the instrument body. Typically, a pivotted lever (2) is mounted on the underside of a guitar body (1). By pressing the lever against the body while playing, a linkage (3, 4) is actuated to cause blocking rollers (8) to interact with the bridge and curtail the note.
