Dot printer recorder with needle magnet print head - produces analogue and numerical displays without excessive recorder width

A recorder contains a tape guide and drive passing on tape past a writing head. The head is moved by a printer positioning motor across the tape direction of motion with pins pressed against the tape by needle magnets controlled by a print controller according to input signals. It is designed to give a convenient time response of a parameter as well as exact values printed at defined time intervals without requiring unacceptable tape and unit width. Analogue recording involves head positioning in response to analogue input signals and depression of single needle magnet pins at corresp. points whereas numeral printing involves signal conversion and time control.
