Floating candle suitable for decorative illuminating applications, esp. in the shape of a water lilly or the like, comprises a first, incombustible, portion; a second portion comprising the wax or the like necessary for sustaining a flame; and a floating portion made of polystyrene, closed-cell, foam. This latter portion is in shape of a relatively flat cylinder, with an upwards-pointing extension on which the second portion bears.
