Ball bearing mounted rowlock for boat - has locating pin on pivot bearing strapped to captive oar on hinged bracket

The rowlock has a special holder strapped to the oar, with a hinged bottom section complete with bearing pivot and profiled shaft (3) to slide into a recess fitting screwed to the gun-whale. The oar is securely held and does not have to be swung into the boat when rowing is finished. The locating shaft is non circular so that a secure fitting is achieved. The shaft is mounted on bearings (11) for a simple rowing action, with the whole fitting preventing wear on the oar shaft.
