Helicopter anti-radar defence method - firing pockets from aircraft upon detection of scanning beam to generate large radar reflecting surface
Helicopter anti-radar defence method - firing pockets from aircraft upon detection of scanning beam to generate large radar reflecting surface
System protecting helicopters against radar controlled defences employs one or more projectiles to generate a large radar reflecting surface to decoy the radar defence. The projectiles for the generation of the decoy signals are very small and may be fired within a relatively large angle. Pref. the decoy projectiles are not released until a receiver on the helicopter detects a scanning radar beam. The decoy projectiles may consist of rockets with an external diameter of 50mm, a length of 300mm and an initial mass of 0.75Kg. The projectiles can be fired from simple firing units which are firmly mounted on the helicopter and contain a number of adjacent projectiles which are placed parallel to one another.
