Polymer emulsions (esp. of acrylonitrile-vinyl chloride copolymer) which contain uncoverted monomer are coagulated by feeding the emulsion, contg. a precipitating agent, uniformly into a cyclone; at the inlet, the emulsion is contacted with a steam jet, and is thrown against the wall of the cyclone. There is no damge to the polymer. Polymer grains which are easily filtered and washed are obtd. In spite of steam temps. of 100-105 degrees C, the copolymer is considerably less coloured than in a discontinuous pptn. at the same temp. There is almost no foam formation.
