The noise suppressor comprises a duct (1) of round or polygonal cross-section provided at its interior with cylindrical baffles (2) whose axes lie transverse to the main duct axis. The baffles are arranged in stagered relationship so that noise suppression for a given pressure loss is maximised. The distance between successive baffles taken in the direction of the length of the duct is given by a specified formula.
