The dustbin lid (2) has at the top a mounting (3), onto which a solid body (6) of insecticidal material is screwed or otherwise detachably secured. Part of the mounting can be permanently secured to the lid, or detachable from it, and there can be one or more holes (7) in the body for the mounting. There can be a guard (10) enclosing the body and fixed to the same spindle. The mounting can be a suction cup, permanently or detachably fixed to the body, and secured to the lid by pressing against it. A hand guard can be provided on the body, for use until it is fixed in place.
