The filter circuit is for attenuation and absorption of noise signals generated in a reactive load when either d.c or a.c is interrupted. The circuit consists of a resistor (44) in series with a capacitor (55) connected in parallel with the reactive load (43). A nonlinear, voltage sensitive resistor (46) is connected in parallel with this series circuit and the reactive load (43). The potential generated at the load (43) when the switch (42) is open is suppressed by the filter circuit. The rising slope of the abnormal voltage is weakened by the capacitor (45) and resistor (44) so that the noise signal is prevented from spreading out into the surrounding space or air. The peak value is suppressed by the resistor (46).
