The work bench for a dental mechanic, goldsmith or similar craftsman has a work support platform (14) mounted on a hollow rectangular box section (11). The box section is supported by rollers (9, 10) which run on a rail (7) on each side of a U section support (1) screwed to the underside of the top of the work bench. A housing (24) attached to the box section, at the opposite end to the work platform (14) encloses a fan which sucks dust, created by filing or grinding the workpiece, into the box section and then discharges it through the filter (27). a hinged extension (21) to the box section can be raised or lowered to suit the size and shape of the workpiece.
