A regulating transformer uses a stepping switch for high stepped up outputs. There are windings or winding sections divided into separate winding branches which are isolated one from the other to produce a current distribution consisting of several parallel branches. The parallel isolated winding branches are formed alternately only on the turns of coil groups (2). The movable contacts of the load changeover switch are insulated from the adjacent switching chambers or phases and are each brought out by a separate terminal. The inductance will achieve the required size to enable the theoretically possible increase in the stepped output of the transformer and load changeover.
