Flat materials cut to a certain pattern, e.g. uppers and linings in the shoe industry, are bonded together by distributing spots of adhesive uniformly over the surface of one of the shapes. Directly afterwards this shape is applied under pressure to the other shape. This ensures a good adhesion without affecting the permeability or the absorption capacity for water vapour of the shapes bonded together.
