Emergency brake for small car - has brake pads swung onto road surface and mounted on parallel struts

The emergency brake for the small vehicle has brake pads swung onto the road in front of the rear wheels and locked in position by the reaction with the road. It is operated by an emergency brake lever in the car, independent to the normal brakes. The pads are similar on both sides of the car, and are supported from the chassis by two sets of parallel layers to drop the pads flat onto the road.
